Thank you for choosing a Reliable Bear Shadow Box.

Follow these instructions to safely assemble, install, and maintain your display.

Step 1: Install Wall Mounting Hardware

• Mounting hardware is included but must be installed.  You must predrill a hole using a 1/8” drill bit. Tighten screws firmly, but do not overtighten. Ensure mounting surface can support the weight.

  Step 2: Apply Felt and Install your Coins and Medals

• The felt backing features a self-adhesive layer and is applied directly to the plywood backing. Align carefully before pressing into place, and smooth evenly to prevent bubbles or wrinkles. Badges and ranks should be sewn on prior to remove backing. When securing coins, medals, and other small items to the felt backing, Reliable Bear Heirloom Adhesive is the recommended adhesive. (sold separately). It holds securely without damaging the item or the backing, and can be removed cleanly if you need to rearrange the display.

 Step 3: Remove Protective Film

• The polycarbonate front is shipped with a protective film on both sides. Carefully peel off the film before use. Do not use sharp tools to remove the film.

Care & Maintenance

• Clean using a hot soapy water and a microfiber cloth only. Wipe gently to avoid scratching. Do not use paper towels, abrasives, or chemical cleaners. Avoid alcohol, ammonia-based products, or glass cleaners. Polycarbonate is shatter proof but scratches more easily than glass and requires careful handling.

Wood Frame 

• Do not use harsh cleaners. Keep away from prolonged moisture or significant humidity swings. The finish can be reapplied using a light coat of regular Teak oil.

Felt Backing

• Remove dust using a lint roller or soft brush. For wrinkles, lightly iron using low heat. Do not use steam. Place a cloth between the iron and felt for protection. Do not saturate or scrub the felt.

Can the front panel break?

Polycarbonate is significantly more impact resistant than glass, though it can scratch if handled improperly.
